Their knowledge and experience in areas such as tourism, hospitality, culinary arts, international education, just to mention few, is invaluable in the development of a platform with information for students worldwide.
Here are profiles of our core advisory council members. In addition, we receive advice and assistance from other professionals, tourism-related programs alumni and other industry specialists.
Jonathan Rouse is Director for Food, Wine and Tourism and Associate Dean Okanagan School of Business at Okanagan College, British Columbia. Jonathan has a varied background beginning as an exploration geologist for leading mining corporations, as well as a senior mineralogical land use analyst for government. For the past 20 years, Jonathan has been active in tourism development and education, with particular interest in sustainability and product development. Prior to moving to the Okanagan, Jonathan was the Dean for the School of Hospitality and Business at Vancouver Community College, responsible for a range of international initiatives and programming, including the development of Canada’s first Aboriginal Culinary program in conjunction with the Four Host First Nations in preparation for hosting the World during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Jonathan currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council and the Tourism Industry Association of BC; and is a past Board member for Go2 and Tourism Vancouver.
Cyndi McLeod is a global leader and expert in international education. She has been playing pivotal role for educational institutions to grow through innovative recruitment and business partnerships.
Cyndi is award-winning and globally-minded education executive with marketing and business development expertise with over 30 years of leadership experience in the public education sector. Expert in building strong brands and strategic relationships across the education sector, as well as a vast range of industries, with an extensive worldwide network encompassing over 100 countries. For the past 15 years, Cyndi has served as Vice President at two noted universities. Her executive contributions have been distinguished by dramatic growth in domestic and international enrollment and revenues, the development of innovative business models and partnerships, and a significant strengthening of institutional brands and market positions.
As a college Dean and as part of her portfolio, Cyndi has provided the leadership to develop tourism-related programs and has embraced tourism and hospitality-related education as one of the key areas for international student recruitment to Canada.
Cyndi is an international education specialist with numerous awards to her credit, and has traveled and worked extensively in key education markets in Asia, South America, Europe, and the Middle East. Her vision and efforts have benefited The World Bank, The Canadian International Development Agency, The Asia Development Bank, and UNESCO, among other leading international institutions. As a conference speaker and teacher, she is a passionate advocate of the importance of building international brands and the internationalization of education.
Santiago is well-recognized professional in the field of international education marketing and student recruitment.
He has been leading marketing and student recruitment efforts at well-known European institutions of higher learning.
At ELISAVA, leading design and engineering school with links to culinary arts innovation, Santiago is focusing on branding and worldwide partnerships with other globally-acclaimed schools.
Previously, he has been the director of the study abroad programs at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona for 10 years. He participated in the design and creation of Study Abroad Programme at the UAB from its beginning while developing significantly the population of international students coming to UAB.
Santiago collaborated with the AQU (Agency of Quality at Universities from the Catalan government) to create a methodology to evaluate and certificate Study Abroad Programmes at receiving institution and then worked from the UAB to test this methodology. He holds a bachelor degree in Translation and Interpreting from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a master degree in Applied linguistics from the University of Kent. He was a professor at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya and now works in administration at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

James Love is accomplished entrepreneur and business executive. He has been recognized as a specialist in developing propositions, leading teams and growing revenues. James has also experience in raising funding for early-stage ventures. He has been successful as a turn-around specialist in a number of enterprises.
As VP Sales and Marketing at www.icef.com has led the team to growth of 100% in sales in 4 years, implemented productive tools from CRM to Finance and is developing the next generation web-based products.
At ICEF, a global leader in B2B conferences of international educational institutions and student recruiting agencies, James has been playing a major role to expand the portfolio of participating schools and service providers while improving the efficiencies of the sales and finance systems. Previously as CEO, James restructured and repositioned a leading mobile testing company in France, which was later sold to a major player in the US testing industry.
Prior, James has founded and led, as CEO, a middleware company focused on the integration market financed by 3i. Subsequent to, he took it to its first $3m of revenues in the telecoms and defence sectors with O2, Smiths Aerospace and BT.
James also played a vital role in leading negotiations and execution of two of British Telecoms major joint ventures in mobile and fixed telecoms – Cegetel and Japan Telecom – making over $10bn for British Telecom.

Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Alexis is talented international education marketing specialist with experience in marketing and sales and organization of educational events for the international education market.
Alexis has worked for 14 years in the world of higher education, advising national and international institutions in internationalization of higher education. For 10 years he was Director of ExpoUniversidad, major education fairs organizer in Latin America. Alexis organized number of events in Latin America (Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Peru) and also in Spain (Madrid, Barcelona) and in China (Beijing, Shanghai).
